St. Lawrence University Website
St. Lawrence University, located in Canton NY, is one of the oldest continuously coeducational higher education institutions in the State of New York. Its mission is to provide its approximately 2,300 students with an inspiring and demanding undergraduate education in the liberal arts.
At the time of IE’s engagement with the University, the University had recently completed an extensive communications plan to guide its brand and messaging. The University’s website had not been refreshed in several years. Its look, feel and functionality had become outdated and hindered its ability to effectively communicate with potential students. IE was asked to translate the University’s updated brand and communication strategy forward into one of the most effective and advanced university websites in the country.
IE built upon the University’s existing research, meeting with over 120 stakeholders over the course of several days. Insights were distilled into a cohesive design approach to differentiate the St. Lawrence experience, convey the positive outcomes of attaining a St. Lawrence University degree, affirm the University’s national stature, advance brand and communication goals, create a sense of community with audiences, integrate the latest web technologies, be user-centric, flexible and accessible.
The new website design brings the unique active learning and lifestyle of the St. Lawrence experience into focus through expansive and bold imagery, succinct navigation and a completely responsive design. The new design also represents one of the first major executions of the University’s updated brand, which IE integrated into each element of the site to elevate the University’s image in the minds of its audiences.
The new site also utilizes some of today’s leading web technologies within its new Drupal Content Management System (CMS). The new site is a flexible and powerful communications platform, which enables the University to efficiently integrate targeted messaging and multimedia across the site.
